Cardiff had the games first chance, Joe Dyer with a good run finding Josh Allen in space. Allen though put his sot wide.

Shortly after Dean Maynard found Gareth Emanuel but he fired his shot wide of the target.

USW then had a good chance as Alex Jacklin’s effort at goal was well saved by Cardiff keeper Lee Jones.

The game was a cagey affair in the early goings with both side having chances to take the lead. Billy Wheeler and Tobias Pretty-John forcing save from Lee Jones.

Billy Wheeler was proving a threat as he again forced jones into action from a free-kick and then shortly after firing wide.

After a close opening nine minutes, it was Cardiff who got the lead. Josh Allen opened the scoring with a powerful shot that was unsavable for the goalkeeper.

In search of an immediate response, USW came back as Lucas Sparrow fired a shot across the goal which went wide.

Sparrow then led a quick counter-attack putting a teasing ball across goal, but Robert Pritchard was inches away from putting it the net.

Cardiff used the ball well and were passing it well around the court. A good team move was put away by Declan Church to extend their lead to two.

Billy Wheeler pulled one back from a free shot after Cardiff accumulated more than five fouls, firing into the top corner giving Jones no chance.

USW lost Pretty-John at halftime and his absence would cost the team. His organisation and work defensively helped to break up the Cardiff attacks.

Cardiff began with a high tempo, Alex McDowell shooting wide before Maynard had his shot blocked. Moments later McDowell saw his effort come off the post.

In a frantic four minutes, the complexion of the game completely changed as Cardiff took full control. On 24 minutes some good control from Maynard gave him space to shoot and he fired low into the goal to further his side’s lead.

Allen, a minute later was on the end of a good ball into the box. He saw his first shot saved but put it in with his second attempt.
He then had his hat trick as he tapped in from Gary Bell’s cross across goal.

The game was paused for a time out but as play resumed, Cardiff started how they were before they paused. Bourton took the ball from a USW defender and then was able to put the ball into the net from close range to make it 6-1.

Two minutes after Maynard was able to take the ball deep into USW half’ before taking it around the keeper to score his second and Cardiff’s seventh.

After 37 minutes Josh Allen was able to set up Joe Dyer for a simple finish before Allen himself was on the end of a good move to score his fourth of the game.
