Paul Rutherford becomes the latest acquisition to Bala Town as Colin Caton continues to shape his Bala squad for the forthcoming season.
33-year-old Rutherford became a free agent earlier this month after his release from National League outfit Wrexham after five seasons with the Dragons that saw him make 186 appearances for the Racecourse outfit.
Hailing from the Wirral, he came through the Liverpool Academy before signing a professional contract with Chester City back in 2005. He made almost 60 appearances in four seasons before a switch to Barrow. The midfielder made 164 starts for the Bluebirds including a trip to Wembley where he was part of the 2009/10 FA Trophy-winning side.
In 2013, Rutherford penned a deal for Southport where he stayed for three years prior to a move to Wrexham in 2016. Rutherford becomes Bala’s fifth signing of the Summer Transfer window following David Edwards, Calum Woods, Daniel Walker-Rice, and Bradley Bauress to Maes Tegid.

A 25-year-old left-footed midfielder, Bauress was offered a new contract at the Deva Stadium after playing for free all last season but has opted to try his luck in the JD Cymru Premier with Bala Town.
Bauress started his career in the youth ranks at Blackburn Rovers, gaining the captaincy of the U21 side in the process. He then moved to Southport where he spent two two seasons with the club.
He had his most successful spell at Witton Albion scoring 27 times from midfield in their 2016/17 promotion season, bagging a move to Barrow in the National League before joining the Sandgrounders prior to signing for Chester in August 2020.
