In a bid to bolster their squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, Swansea City’s Connor Roberts has emerged as a target for Burnley.
Roberts, 25, is said to be a cheaper alternative to reported target Jonjoe Kenny, which works well for the Clarets due to their low-budget operation.
The Welsh International starred for his nation at EURO 2020, starting each game and even grabbing a goal in the dying embers of an emphatic 2-0 win over Turkey in their second group game.
Having played every single minute of Wales’ group fixtures, Roberts sustained a groin injury during the first half of an eventual 4-0 defeat to Denmark in the round of 16. The Swansea defender is awaiting updates on the duration of the injury, something that could prove crucial to a potential transfer.
His performances for Wales came following an impressive season with Steve Cooper’s side, where he contributed to twelve league goals from the wingback berth and helped the Welsh club to the playoff final, although they lost out to Brentford.
After penning a four year deal with his boyhood club back in 2018, Roberts has one year left on his current deal and Sean Dyche will no doubt be monitoring the development of any future negotiations regarding a new contract.
