Llantwit Major spoiled Mark Aizlewood’s return to Richmond Park as they beat Carmarthen Town 1-0 in the Cymru South.

Thomas Walters fired in from close range after a great run from Dafydd Owen in the game’s only goal on 18 minutes.

Llantwit winger Josh Jones also shone as his rapid pace caused the Old Gold defenders a lot of problems on the break.

Sean Cresser’s side failed to cause any real problems as they opted to play the ball long towards their attackers repeatedly with the same outcome.

With this latest defeat, Carmarthen’s wait for their first win of the season continues for another game.

Llantwit Major had a chance to open the scoring early on when Cullen Kinsella shot from the edge of the box, but his effort was blocked by a Town defender.

Carmarthen then had a penalty appeal turned down by the referee when an attacking player went down inside the area.

The hosts enjoyed some early joy down the right through Michael George and Liam Thomas running in behind.

George delivered a fantastic cross for Noah Daley who was unable to turn his headed effort past Jack Lansdown.

After just over fifteen minutes of action, Llantwit Major opened the scoring through Thomas Walters.

Dafydd Owen beat Cory Saunders with a sharp turn before laying it across to Walters who fired past Scott James from close range, netting his second goal in three games after returning from a long lay-off from injury.

Llantwit had the ball in the back of the net a second time through Anthony Rawlings, but the flag was raised.

Jones thought he had won a penalty when he cut in from the right beat two players before going down, but the referee didn’t point to the spot.

Carmarthen were the strong team at the start of the second half going close when Greg Walters volleyed wide from the edge of the box.

Substitute Ben Steele also went close to grabbing an equaliser for the town, flashing wide on two occasions.

The hosts remained on top for the majority of the second half, but Llantiwt continued to cause problems on the break.

Jones successfully broke down the left wing on multiple occasions getting the better of Jordan Vickers with his electric pace.

For all of Carmarthen’s second-half possession, they failed to convert it into any chances.

Their frustrations began to show by the end of the half as they rushed to play it long towards their forwards unsuccessfully.

After six minutes of injury time, the referee brought an end to the game to the delight of the Llantwit coaching team who let out a jubilant roar.
