Carmarthen Town’s match with Risca United postponed due to COVID-19 issues

Carmarthen Town’s home match with Risca United has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19.

The Old Gold were set to play in their third league match but positive tests have resulted in the game being postponed.

The Cuckoos were due to make the 78-mile journey west to Richmond Park but will now head back to Caerphilly.

In a statement by the Cymru Leagues, it read: “The JD Cymru South match between Carmarthen Town and Risca United, scheduled for today (31 July), has been postponed.

“The cause of the postponement will be referred to the FAW National Leagues Board for their review.”

It is the first Cymru South fixture to be postponed this season. In the Cymru North, Llanidloes Town played on despite having a depleted squad.

Port Talbot’s Nathaniel MG Cup match with Swansea University was the only other Cymru Leagues match in which the game did not take place due to COVID.
