Mike Wilde has left the Connah’s Quay Nomads after the expiration of his contract and joined Cymru Premier rivals Flint Town United.
The 37-year-old left Deeside Stadium today and has moved quickly to join their Deeside rivals the Silkmen.
Wilde was also Head of Football Development at Tranmere Rovers and will continue in the role, working with the youngsters of the League Two outfit.
In a parting statement, Wilde said in a tweet: “A big thanks to all that have been a part of my time at Connah’s Quay, especially the manager Andy Morrison who I owe a great deal to.
“What a journey it has been, so many boxes ticked., all goals achieved, and more! Now on to my new venture.”
Joining in June 2016 following his exit from The New Saints, Wilde won numerous honours during his time at Deeside Stadium.
Over the course of five years he spent in North Wales, he made over 154 competitive starts for the club, scoring on 73 occasions.
The former Chester forward won the Welsh Cup, the Nathaniel MG Cup and twice won the Cymru Premier.
Wilde was also instrumental in helping the Nomads reach the final of the SPFL Trust Trophy.
His last goals for the club came in the form of a hat-trick against title rivals TNS and his former side, in the Nomads’ first and only league victory at Park Hall.
He was awarded the Cymru Premier Player of the Year for the past campaign and reached a landmark 200 Cymru Premier goals last year.
In response to his exit, manager Andy Morrison said: “Many players are welcome at mine for a Sunday Roast but there a select few that are welcome for the Christmas feast.
“Well done Wildey, you have been inducted into the Christmas club.”
Midfielder Danny Harrison was also another departee announced by the club today.
After joining in January 2015, Harrison went on to similar success and made over 189 starts for the Nomads. His service to the club ranks him as seventh on the Nomads’ all-time starts list.
“A massive thanks to everyone at Connah’s Quay for an incredible six years. I’m proud to have been a part of what we have achieved.
“The biggest thanks goes to Andy Morrison for everything you have done for me. A top-class manager and more importantly a top man. On to the next challenge.
Meanwhile, the Nomads are expected to announce a number of new signings after Morrison spoke in his pre-match interview last week that signings had been completed.
