Connah’s Quay sign up Harrington, Harrison and Webster ahead of opener
Connah’s Quay Nomads have confirmed a trio of new signings with Byron Harrison, Harrison Webster, and Ryan Harrington joining the squad ahead of their season opener against Cefn Druids on Friday.
The Nomads moved quickly to replace the outgoing Michael Wilde in the form of another experienced striker who will help give the Cymru Premier champions an outlet upfront with the addition of Byron Harrison.
The 34-year-old most recently played for National League outfit Altrincham where he struggled for game time following an injury early on during his three-month stay at the Robins.
Harrison was prolific during his recent first spell at Barrow where he scored 32 goals in 67 games during his time at the club from 2016 to 2018.
Nomads manager Andy Morrison had the following to say on his newest signing: “I’m delighted to get Byron over the line – I’ve been working on it now for a few weeks and we managed to fend off a Conference club, a Conference North club and a club from abroad so I’m delighted to get him in.
He’s got a great pedigree – offers us a platform up the pitch which I thought we lacked a little bit in the last game [against Llandudno] and with Michael [Wilde] moving on, I need that platform.”
Left wing-back Harrison Webster also joins the Nomads having come through the youth system at Hartlepool United whilst Craig Harrison was the first-team manager at the club.
The 19-year-old had trials with Wolves and Leeds United, however, a move failed to materialise after successful trial periods at both clubs.
Speaking on the addition of the English starlet, Andy Morrison said: “Harrison’s come in with us the last two weeks and trained with us and I’ve been so impressed with him – he’s got a great left foot, great balance, real quality in possession of the ball and he’s very quick and explosive so I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
While the Nomads also strengthened their defence with the addition of Ryan Harrington who most recently played for rivals TNS.
The 22-year-old can play anywhere along the backline and has had numerous appearances for TNS where he featured in Europe a total of eight times during his time at Park Hall.
On the signing of Ryan Harrington, Andy Morrison said: “I’m delighted to bring Ryan in, he’s trained with us and his application and the way he’s trained has been fantastic – Ryan’s got many qualities but he’s also got areas to work on, but the crux of a defender is being able to run, being athletic, fit and strong – he has all those qualities and that’s the first thing I look for in my defenders.”
