Briton Ferry appoint Andy Hill as new first-team manager

Briton Ferry Llansawel have ended their search for a new first-team manager by appointing Andy Hill.

The Reds have looked to the former Llanelli Town boss to succeed Carl Shaw with Cymru Premier ambitions at the Neath Port Talbot club.

He makes a quick return to Old Road after leaving his role of Head of Coaching in late July. It was one that he had held for 18 months but faced difficulties in playing competitive matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His appointment, sees him return to a senior dugout of a football club for the first time since October 2019.

Hill has been in charge of Briton Ferry’s last two matches, listed as manager on Cymru Football in their wins over Cwmbran Celtic, and Risca United.

Prior to his appointment, Ian Hillier was in interim charge, the former Spurs defender was listed as a coach in the last two games and looks set to remain at the club.

A former player of clubs such as Neath in the Cymru Premier, Hill’s management career began with Goytre United, spending three years with the Glenhafod Park club.

He later moved on to Stebonheath Park, where he oversaw two promotions and a League Cup win.

Briton Ferry have wasted no time in recruiting new players and have signed up Daniel Alfei from Llanelli.

Ferry are up to third in the table after their two wins under Hill, they have lost just twice in the league this season and play Trefelin BGC next Friday.
