Llantwit Major gave Trefelin their first league defeat in 27 months as they came away with Ynys Park with a 5-2 victory.

Karl Lewis’ side return to second spot and are now just one of two sides left unbeaten in the Cymru South, with league leaders Pontypridd Town the other.

Kris Evans and Lee Jones put Major ahead in between Jordan Davies’ red card for a clear handball in which Cullen Kinsella had a penalty saved.

Joe Clarke then in the second-half pulled one back for Tref from the spot before Connor Goldsworthy increased the advantage, despite missing his penalty. Clarke added a second for the hosts but after being red-carded, debutant Ben Murphy and Kinsella added two further goals for a good away victory.

Major dealt Trefelin an early goal and it came from a set piece. The ball was whipped into the box and after failing to clear, Kris Evans broke the deadlock with a tapped effort.

Llantwit kept the pressure on after the goal firing shots on the Trefelin goal and were denied an obvious second, resulting in a red card.

Jordan Davies was penalised for a handball as the follow-up came in, referee Jordan Harman had no choice but to dismiss the player. Cullen Kinsella stepped up to take the penalty but Chris Curtis got across the goal to push it away.

After earning a man advantage, Major peppered the goal more and Jonathan Fletcher saw a header cleared off the line.

Ten minutes before the half-time whistle Lee Jones gave Llantwit their desired outcome heading into the break as he headed in from the far post.

Emerging from the second half with some fight about them, Damon Thomas earned a penalty. Up stepped Joe Clarke who drove his spot-kick past, Jack Lansdowne.

Moments later however there was another penalty as Conner Goldsworthy was fouled. Curtis again denied a Llantwit player from the spot but Goldsworthy was quickest on the loose ball to make it 3-1.

A moment of brilliance then came as Joe Clarke scored from inside his own half, scoring with an audacious lobbed effort.

Clarke inspired some confidence into Trefelin but that was lost as he was later given a second yellow.

Conner Goldsworthy took advantage of the extra space and made a great run into the box to set up a tap-in for Ben Murphy.

In the last act, Cullen Kinsella was found with a great through ball, allowing him to chip the keeper for a resounding victory.
