Wales 0-0 Estonia: Rob Page’s men slip up in race for 2022 World Cup qualification

Wales failed to capitalize from the 3-2 win over Belarus with a 0-0 draw with Estonia which would have leapfrogged them over their next opponent Czech Republic.

Robert Page’s team dominated the game with big chances being missed from the home side.

Estonia coming into this game scoring more goals than Wales as they had a few great chances of their own.

The first chance of the game went to the home side as Chris Gunter found Harry Wilson in the box as he fired his left-footed effort past the post.

Gareth Bale after a hat-trick in Kazan was causing danger for Estonia as he ran rings around the defenders of Estonia.

After Gareth Bale went around a defender and crossed the ball, Harry Wilson went down after attempting a header from a Hein collection.

Wilson was treated following the incident as he landed on his neck following the incident. Wilson got back up and continued with the game.

Tyler Roberts, who led the line for Wales, laid off the ball to Gareth Bale as the all-time top scorer for Wales had his effort go wide.

Wilson was attacking again as he thread through a ball down the middle to Tyler Roberts as he carried the ball by the near post with the effort going wide.

Puri was booked for Estonia as he handled Daniel James on the right side of the pitch.

As soon as he was booked, Puri was holding his leg as he went down heavily. He was replaced by Michael Lilander.

After colliding with the keeper, Harry Wilson could not carry on as Johnny Williams came on to replace him.

Mattias Kait had the first shot for Estonia as he fired his effort from outside the box which rattled the crossbar.

Cardiff City Stadium fell into silence as the effort was just inches away from giving the away side the lead.

Ben Davies linked up with Gareth Bale again as the full-back hit a cross into the middle as Bale had his effort saved.

Moments after his saved header, Bale was one on one from 10 yards out when Karl Hein saved his effort close range as a rebound effort from Bale hit the post.

Joe Allen had an opportunity of his own as he fired his effort from outside the box, straight into the arms of Karl Hein.

Wales had a free-kick from just outside the penalty area as Bale stepped up and fired it just over the bar from a dipping effort.

As the game went into stoppage time, Konstantin Vassiljev fired an effort from 30 yards out as Danny Ward saved it for a corner.

Konstantin Vassiljev directly from the corner tried to beat the keeper as Ward punched it away from danger.

Poon the substitute off the bench, fired a shot at goal as Ward was there to save.

The last opportunity of the game was when Johnny Williams was dribbling through the middle as he was brought down.

Robert Page was booked for his anger on the touchline following the possible penalty decision in the last moments of the match.

The ref blew up for full–time as boos circled around the stadium for the late referee decision.

Wales now sits in third place level on points with Czech Republic who have played one more game.

Wales’s next game is against Czech Republic on 8th October which will penultimately be the most important game for both sides.
