Both sides came in to this game with only two points separating them.
Noah Daley almost got Carmarthen in to an early lead however, he could not get on to the end of a low cross from Liam Thomas.
Carmarthen continued to push for a goal, Ben Steele this time. After a mistake from Joseph Massaro, who gifted Ben Steele a chance, however, he did not take it.
Risca had a few chances up the other end, they came close when Scott James mistimed his jump but the ball was well recovered.
Carmarthen’s best chance in the first half came when Lee Surman’s shot found Liam Thomas who’s touch went just over the bar.
Half time came and Risca were looking to get in to Carmarthen’s box but just could not get their shots off
Joseph Massaro kept the scores level for a long time and pulled off a remarkable save, when a good run from Cameron Berry and a good shot from him was met by a better save.
Risca’s Josh Clayton had a chance to get a goal for them, however his shot just went wide of the goal.
On the 76th minute, the deadlock was finally broken. A well-worked free kick was played to the feet of Liam Thomas whos shot found the bottom corner.
Risca were looking for a way back in to the game, and pressed forward, chances for Tom Berry and Christian Mbongompasi both could not find the back of the net.

Carmarthen held on to the win and leapfrog Risca united in the league.
Risca will next be away against Briton Ferry Llansawel, while Carmarthen will be in action in the FAW Welsh Cup away against the Cymru Premier side Newtown.
Carmarthen Town narrowly defeated Risca United 1-0 at Richmond Park in the JD Cymru as Liam Thomas scored his 100th league goal.
