Cefn Druids part company with first-team manager Niall McGuiness

Cefn Druids have parted company with their first-team manager Niall McGuinness.

McGuinness was appointed as the long-term successor to Bruno Lopes and penned a two-year contract but his time at the club has been brought to an end.

He leaves the club bottom of the table having lost all six of their opening games in the Cymru Premier.

They were also knocked out of the Nathaniel MG Cup by Prestatyn Town.

Commenting on the matter, club chairman Des Williams said: “Niall has been a superb coach and outstanding young man with new and fresh ideas. It’s a results industry and he’s been unlucky and decided to move on and I wish him all the very best for the future.”

“The club will take the time to seek a replacement over the coming weeks and look to build stability in these uncertain times.”

There has been a large turnover of first-team players in the squad with no fewer than nine summer signings announced by the club.

They also added further to their team with the likes of Ryan Neild and Jose Ferreira.

The Ancients are in Welsh Cup action on Saturday against fellow Cymru Premier outfit Aberystwyth Town, a temporary replacement has not been named, though Jayon Starkey did manage the team in McGuiness’ absence for one fixture.
