Wrexham AFC Women have confirmed that first-team manager Mari Edwards has stood down from her role.
The 30-year-old joined Wrexham only in August, moving on from Airbus UK, where she was manager of the Wingmakers.
Edwards had previously played for Denbigh and then Airbus, where she became manager in 2019.
The Dragons were eighth after three games played before her departure from Colliers Park and are in the quarter-finals of the Adran Trophy.
“Wrexham AFC can confirm women’s first-team manager Mari Edwards has stepped down from her role at the club with immediate effect,” read a short statement released by the club, hours before their match against Llanfair United.
“The club will now look to appoint a new women’s first-team manager with the process beginning immediately.”
Steve Dale has been placed in charge for an interim period, whilst Gareth Owen, the Under-19s manager, and Gemma Owen, the Head of Female Football, will assist him.
They oversaw the 3-1 win over Llanfair United with Rebecca Pritchard, Lauren Reese 59, and Amber Lightfoot on target.
