Haverfordwest County 1-2 Caernarfon Town: Cofis win back-to-back away games
Caernarfon Town’s Noah Edwards and Cai Jones secured three points at Haverfordwest County to lift the Cofios into the top six.
Edwards first-half goal was an individual effort on half an hour whilst Jones doubled the lead on an hour with a scrambled goal, Jones Thomas-halving the deficit eight minutes later with a fine solo effort.
Hayes, the visiting centre forward had a selfless and dominating game leading the line, a constant threat to the home defence which was missing Alaric Jones after the youngster fell ill during the week and made an appearance after 55 minutes.
Home goalkeeper Lee Idzi earnt his biscuit as he saved his side on numerous occasions, starting in the first minute, perhaps an indication of the Bluebirds defensive frailties this season, which has been the Achilles heel, frustrating for manager Wayne Jones who had targetted a victory to keep his side in the hunt for a top-six finish.
Caernarfon, with the experienced Steve Evans at the heart of their defence had an industrious midfield, led by skipper Darren Thomas and Edwards, playing just off the front two. Referee Kenny listed six yellow cards in his book during the game but it was the ones he could have made which had an influence, the home side confidence ebbing as the visitors were physically and subtly stronger, including an eighty-sixth-minute handball penalty claim for Haverfordwest.
