Andy Legg leaves post as Llanelli Town manager

Llanelli Town have today announced the departures of manager Andy Legg and captain Kyle Copp.

In a short statement on their Facebook page, the club said: “Llanelli Town AFC announce that Andy Legg has departed the club this evening.

“Although not an easy decision given his club status and what he has achieved over the years here at Stebonheath Park we would all like to wish him the best and he will always receive a warm welcome here.

“With our club vision set out by chairman Wayne Stephens many changes will be made throughout the whole club over the Christmas period.

“We will announce Andy’s successor in due course. Thanks again Leggy!”

This was Legg’s second spell in charge of the Reds, having previously been at the helm for a succesful spell between 2009 and 2012, two years after he joined the club as a player in 2007. Legg was re-appointed as manager in November last year, but leaves after little over a year in charge.

In addition to his two spells at Llanelli, Legg had a brief spell in charge of Bangor City, as well as Cardiff City’s under-23 side.

Upon his departure, he said: “Just a quick message to say thank you the supporters for you support during my time at the club. We wish the club well. Cheers.”

In addition to Legg’s departure, club captain Kyle Copp has also left Llanelli Town. A Swansea academy product, Copp joined the club in 2019, and was appointed captain at the beginning of this season following Jordan Davies’ departure to Trefelin.

Posting on Twitter, the club said; “It saddens us to say but Captain Kyle Copp has left the club today. We wish him all the best for the future.

“Kyle made 42 appearances for the Reds scoring eight goals! He made his debut against Goytre back in August 2019.”

Legg and Copp leave Llanelli with the side in sixth place in the Cymru South, having lost just one of their last five games.

The club also announced the departure of left-back Zac Brown earlier in the week.

Llanelli have not yet announced either a permanent or interim successor to Legg.
