Pontyclun stunned the Llydstep Park crowd as they hit Cardiff Draconians for six on their travels in the Ardal South West.
Tomos Tweedy opened the scoring in the first minute and Joel Woodington add two more in the 17th as Pontyclun raced ahead. Woodington completed his hat trick on 28 minutes with the visitors leading 4-0 at halftime.
The man-in-form scored his fourth 52 minutes in and Christopher Bell took it to six just befor ethe hour mark.
There was some cheer at least for the Dracs as Callum Gunstone netted a two-minute brace but the margin of defeat came as a shock, given a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture.
Cardiff Draconians drop down to fourth place and Pontyclun are in sixth with only three points separating the sides.
Pontyclun scored with their first attack of the game. Working the ball out to the right flank, a whipped-in cross found the head of Tomos Tweedy who directed the ball into the bottom corner.
The home side were struggling to clear their lines and the ball fell to Woodington just outside the box. The striker looped the ball over the keeper to double the visitors lead.
Straight after and it was three after more Pontyclun pressure saw Drac’s having to block shots. Dracs keeper Daniel Hurton made a good stop but a quick pass across found Woodington who fired in.
Pontyclun didn’t let up and were 4-0 before the halftime break. Woodington pressing the keeper after a poor back pass. Woodington won the ball and side-footed in the net to claim his hat trick.
Drac’s hopes of salvaging anything went away on 52 minutes as the man of the moment Joel Woodington made it five. Pontyclun pushed Cardiff Dracs back and they failed to fully clear. The ball came to Woodington who hit a shot that deflected in.
The home side struggled to clear and move the ball out of their own third during the game. Again they failed to clear and Christopher Bell hooked an effort over the keeper to make it six.
With a six-goal lead, Pontyclun sat a little deeper and Phil Booker’s side were able to attack a little more. They were almost caught on the break at times but keep working and fighting.
Their work was rewarded with two late goals from Callum Gunstone. The first was a powerful strike to the top corner on 85 minutes. and the second was a tap in after a smart pass by Jack Kane.
