Goytre United have announced the departure of manager Lee John, as well as his assistant Dylan Blain, who have both joined Llanelli Town.
In a short statement posted on Twitter, Goytre United said; “It is with deep regret that our manager Lee John and assistant manager Dylan Blain have made the decision to leave the club and join Llanelli Town.
“The decision has been made with our club challenging for the league title and with fifteen games to play.
“Our club remains fully focussed and will continue to challenge for honours.”
After a playing career that saw him play for a host of South Wales clubs, including Newport County, Port Talbot Town, and Haverfordwest County, Lee John has spent the last five years in charge of Goytre United. He leaves with the club fourth in the Cymru South, five points behind league leaders Llantwit Major.
John replaces Andy Legg, who was dismissed by Llanelli Town earlier in the week.
Announcing the appointment of John and Blain, Llanelli said; “We are delighted to announce that the club have secured the services of Lee John as our first team manager and Dylan Blain has his assistant.
“Lee and Dylan’s ambition aligns with the ambition of the club and much more. It was so pleasing to hear the plans of two young managers. I as chairman and everyone at the club, look forward to working with Lee and Dylan.
“We would like to thank Goytre for allowing us permission to speak with Lee.”
There will be some familiar faces for John at Llanelli, with both Calum Bateman and Louis Gerrard now at the Reds having previously played under John at Goytre United.
John’s final game in charge of Goytre United was a 3-0 victory over his new employers, and his first game in charge of Llanelli Town will be the reverse fixture, with the two sides clashing at Stebonheath Park on the 3rd of December.
No announcement has been made yet on John’s successor at Goytre United.
