As the halftime whistle blows on the Cymru North season, we provide a rundown of the campaign so far.

It’s all up for grabs at both ends of the table with Airbus pressing on at the top, whilst Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant find themselves struggling at the foot of the table.

Who will gain promotion? Who are the candidates for relegation and who are the over/underachievers of the 2021/22 season so far?

The promotion candidates

Airbus are the current league leaders with 40 points from their opening 15 games. The only unbeaten side in the Cymru North are third place Guilsfield who have two games in hand on both Airbus and Llandudno who sit above them. Buckley are not far behind the top three only four points behind Guilsfield.

Llandudno have turned around their form from last season where they were 10th when the season was halted due to the Covid19 pandemic. They now sit in second and are real promotion candidates with a squad full of youth and experience.

Airbus frontman Adam Davies is the league’s top scorer with an astounding 21 goals to his name so far this season. It’s a question of just how many for the former Aberystwyth Town striker.

This is shaping up to be a very exciting second half of the Cymru North 2021/22 season.

The relegation candidates

Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant are yet to register a win and find themselves rock bottom on four points. Three points ahead of them are Llangefni Town who are also struggling to find any form.

There’s a seven-point gap between Llangefni and their closest competitors Penrhyncoch,  who have work to do in the second half of the season to try and avoid the drop in a congested bottom half with the likes of Bangor City, Gresford, and Llanidloes in and around the same area.

Underachievers

Last season’s champions, Prestatyn Town are very much underachieving so far sitting in 10th place. They saw an overhaul of their title-winning squad after the departure of Neil Gibson to now Cymru Premier side, Flint Town. They face a mammoth task if they are wanting to get back to former glory in the second half of the season.
