Fallen giants Bangor City face demotion from the Cymru North after they failed to submit an application for a Tier Two licence.
The Citizens, who had their football operations suspended by the Football Association over unpaid wages, had not put themselves forward for the necessary certificate which allows them to play at their current level, as their suspension covers administrative duties, and they were, therefore, unable to apply.
Bangor did however apply for a Tier One licence back in October. In the unlikely event that they get that licence, they could be offered a saving grace.
The Citizens, who remain suspended until their wages are paid, are at the bottom of the Cymru North following a series of points deductions, and regardless of their licensing status, they face a tough challenge to avoid the drop.
They could find themselves in the same division as the phoenix club set up against them, as 1876 have applied to play in the Ardal Leagues.
Bangor 1876, currently second in the North Wales Coast Premier Division, are one of the clubs to apply for promotion to tier three. Should the fan-owned club win promotion and fulfill the requirements for an Ardal Leagues certificate.
The other 15 clubs currently in the Cymru North have applied for a Tier Two Licence, as have all 16 clubs in the Cymru South, which means should they be successful, they would stand a good chance of preserving their second tier status.
26 sides currently in the Ardal leagues have applied for a Tier Two licence. Cardiff Draconians, currently third in the Ardal SW and just a point off the top, and Garden Village, who are just three points from the top spot, have both opted not to apply for a Tier Two Licence.
As for the applications for a Tier Three licence, 63 of the 64 clubs currently in the Ardal leagues have applied. Four Crosses, who are currently rooted to the bottom of the Ardal NE, have not applied for a licence, and face demotion regardless of their league standing.
38 clubs from Tier Four have applied for a Tier Three licence, including Bangor 1876 and Y Rhyl 1879. This could see Bangor 1876 playing at a higher tier than Bangor City next season.
All applicants now face an anxious wait to discover their fate, with the licensing panel set to meet in April and May.
