The Nathaniel MG Cup Final is today with Cardiff Met facing the Connah’s Quay Nomads.
The final will be played at Penybont’s SDM Glass Stadium. It will be a showdown between the last two winners of the competition.
The game will side a battle between two JD Cymru Premier sides with Nomads in sixth while Cardiff Met are in eighth.
Here we look at who could be a potential match-winner for each side.
Adam Roscrow – Cardiff Met
With 10 goals across all competitions, this season Adam Roscrow is Met’s leading scorer. With four goals in his last six games, Roscrow could be hitting form at just the right time.
Roscrow will have a tough task against Nomad’s defence but has the quality to take his chances when they come.
Aeron Edwards-Connah’s Quay
Aeron Edwards is vastly experienced in big games having spent years at TNS. He was also part of the Nomad’s side that win the Cymru Premier last season.
He can be a danger in front of goal as well as from out wide. Where he can deliver quality balls into the box. He can potentially open up a defence himself or set up teammates.
Sam Jones – Cardiff Met
Scoring the equaliser in Met’s 2-2 draw with Flint on his debut, was a great start for the former Cambrian & Clydach player.
Jones has had a great season so far with eight Cymru South goals and three in the Nathaniel MG Cup. We did believe that he could be cup tied but he could be a surprise inclusion today.
George Horan-Connah’s Quay
The Nomad’s captain can be a very effective threat in an attack. He has six goals across the season and will be dangerous from any set pieces.
Horan could be key for Connah’s Quay at both ends of the pitch.
Harry Owen – Cardiff Met
With two goals in the last five, which have seen Cardiff Met go unbeaten, Owen is another hitting form at the right time.
Owen has four goals and one assist this season.
Jamie Insall-Connah’s Quay
Used from the bench mainly in recent matches but what a player to be able to bring on. A vastly experienced player with an eye for goal.
Insall has eight goals this season but notably four in this year’s MG Cup. In what is likely to be a tight final the introduction of Insall could be the difference maker.
