Goytre United 2-4 Llantwit Major: Major strengthen grip on Cymru South title with win

League Leaders come from behind to win convincingly at the end with 2 penalties and 4 incredible goals at Glenhafod Park with Thomas Walters scoring a brace one from the penalty box and his first outstanding bicycle kick goal.

The game started brightly with both teams trying ambitious efforts from distance with great plays in midfield from both teams but neither could find any joy in the final third

But on 23 mins Goytre had a penalty and Birch stepped up and slotted his team ahead Llantwit will be disappointed as it was a needless foul inside the box with the home player going away from the goal

But it wasn’t long as on 30 mins Llantwit were left with a stunning team goal with passes all around the pitch and a back heeled pass found Cripps inside the box and chips it over the Morton in goal

33 mins we had our first caution Evans for an off the ball incident

But on 39 mins the away team were ahead again a wonderful team goal as Goldsworthy beats his player and beautiful pass to the back post finds Evans who makes it 2-1 with a bullet header

Morton in goal for Goytre had a great game today and kept his team still in the game with a fine save towards the end of the second half and Parker was cautioned for the home team right on halftime for a foul tackle

Second half started brightly with both teams pushing but on 52 we were level

Some might say it was luck but Thomas tried his luck from 25 yards out and chipped Lansdown beautifully 2-2

But 4 mins later it was Llantwit who were ahead again With the goal of the game

Beautiful play again in midfield stretching the home defence and a stunning cross finds Walters on the right side just inside the penalty box and ambitiously tried the overhead bycicle kick and fires it past Morton in goal what a goal from him

Goldsworthy finds himself cautioned on 60 mins for a foul tackle

Both teams run the changes on 61 & 62 mins first home team with 8 Thomas being replaced by 14 Rogers and same for Llantwit with number 8 Jenkins 14 Jones taking his place

Morton again kept his team in it as Llantwit we’re looking for a 4th goal both teams were trying and subs were made again on 71’ Cripps being replaced by Gardner and 74’ Morgan for Bateman

But Llantwit got a late penalty for a clumsy foul on 81 mins and Walters stepped up and scored his second beating Morton who guessed correctly but was right in the bottom left corner

The game got away from the home team and frustration started as two late yellow cards on 90’ for Hopkins and 91’ pike respectively

Match ended 2-4 and Llantwit are in touching distance of the Cymru South division.
