Llantwit Major 2-0 Undy Athletic: Llantwit one win away from winning the title

Llantwit Major won 2-0 against Undy Athletic at Prince Moomin’s Palace as they now only need one win to clinch the Cymru South title.

The home side had the first effort of the game as Sean Williams had his scissor kick effort go over the crossbar.


As the game went on the top scorer of the league Thomas Walters, had a curling effort only for it to get caught by Smallcombe.


As the home side picked up a rhythm in the game, Sam Broadribb was in the penalty area as the forward could not get find space for an effort at the Llantwit goal.


The away side’s top scorer, Daniel Jarman had an effort from outside the area as Jack Lansdown had to dive to prevent the ball from going into the bottom left corner.


Conner Goldsworthy had been threatening the away side most of the half as he delivered a dangerous ball into the path of Joshua Jones who struck the ball over the bar.


The away side who have been struggling away from home was challenging the leaders as Daniel Tozer had his effort hit the side netting from inside the area.


The last chance of the half was for the away side as Lansdown kicked the ball onto the back of Daniel Jarman as the ball went out of play as the ref blew for half-time.

As the players were aware of the scoreline between Cambrian and Pontypridd they started the second half strong.

The home side won a corner as Jonathan Fletcher headed the ball to the feet of Kinsella who blasted the ball it into the back of the net past Smallcombe to give the windmill army the lead.

Thomas Walters had an effort from just outside the area as he had his deflected effort hit the post and go for a corner.


Following the corner, Walters has been the man of the moment all season for Karl Lewis’s side as he was found at the back post as he fired a half-volleyed effort into the bottom left corner.


Thomas Wright was booked for the away side following a foul on a Llantwit player in the build-up from the goal.


As the home side knew a win would be enough to win the title the chances dried up for either side with Llantwit fans keeping an eye on the game at King George V New Field.


It could have been three as Kris Evans could not gather a proper connection of the ball from 5 yards out as the ball landed at the feet of Rob Jones who struck his effort wide.


As the game was coming to a close, Wright the captain of Undy received an unexpected second yellow card following an incident with the referee as the away side were reduced to ten with only minutes to go.


The result at King George V New Field in which Pontypridd town came out 2-1 winners meant that Llantwit could not come out as winners in today’s game . A win against Undy on Monday would guarantee Karl Lewis’s side as champions.
