Jonathan Jones has stood down from his post as first-team manager of Pontypridd Town.
Jones led the Dragons to a second-place finish, earning them a place in the Cymru Premier after obtaining the Tier One Licence.
The club have cited ‘family commitments’ as the reason behind his departure from the USW Sport Park hot seat.
The UEFA Pro Licence hopeful had been in charge since 2019 after succeeding former boss Lee Kendall
Over the last week, the former goalkeeper had been coaching the Cymru South squad for their Regions Cup qualifier against the North region.
“Yesterday, I resigned from my position as Pontypridd Town first-team manager,” tweeted Jones.
“Thank you to the club for the opportunity, players for their outstanding efforts, staff for their continuous commitment and supporters for their following.
“Huge appreciation for the relationships built and memories made, with the highlight being promotion to the Cymru Premier.
“Best wishes to the club for the future.”
Director of Football Steve Savage has been placed in interim charge and has been entrusted to find their next first-team manager.
In response to Jones’ statement, Pontypridd Town clu chairman Paul Ragan said: “We wish JJ all the very best and thank him for his past service.”
Pontypridd’s next manager will need to possess a UEFA Pro Licence or be working towards it as part of the FAW’s Tier One Licence rules.
