Cefn continue to lead the pack in Summer League

This week saw the Llandyrnog and District Summer League reached the third of the way through their 24-match season.

It seems to be a three horse race at the top of the table with Cefn, Llanrhaeadr and Henllan all leading the way after matchday seven and eight taking place on Monday and Thursday respectively.

Leading from last week, Cefn continued their run of form with a 2-0 win over Clawddnewydd with Tudur Jones and Jared Roberts on the scoresheet.

Ben Smith, Iestyn Gadd, Alun Vaughan-Evans and Jake Roberts notched a 4-1 win for Llangynhafal at home to Trefnant whilst Ysceifiog put four past Rhewl in their 4-1 victory.

There were seven goals between Henllan and Llanfair with David Lawson-Cooke, Sam Jones, Ally Stubbs, Dewi Jones scoring for the hosts in their 4-3 goalfest meanwhile down the road in Llanrhaeadr they won 6-0 against Caerwys with Llyr Morris netting a hatrick aswell as Kevin Evans, Dafydd Davies, Oli Derosa also scoring.

Nantglyn were 5-1 winners at home against Llandyrnog with goals coming from Ifan Batty (2), Gruff Roberts, Geraint Jones, Luke Molmans in a night that saw all the home sides take away the points.

Onwards to Thursday and there were wins for Llandyrnog and Llanfair at Rhewl and Trefnant respectively. Dyrny were 3-0 winners with goals from Craig Jones, Sam Maddock and Josh Newcombe as Steff Parry, Harri Tudor and a Jak Newell brace secured a 4-1 win for Llanfair.

Caerwys and Ysceifiog played out a 0-0 draw with Clawddnewydd‘s Jordan MacCarter (2), Gethin Jones and Rhidian Edwards ensuring a 4-0 home win against Nantglyn.

Second place Henllan won 3-1 against Llangynhafal thanks to goals from Sam Jones and Owen Roberts (2) but it was Cefn who stayed at the top of the pile with a narrow 1-0 win at Llanrhaeadr with Brad Jones’ only goal.
