Prestatyn Town retain Cymru North status after licence appeal success

Prestatyn Town have retained their place in the Cymru North after successfully securing the Tier Two Licence on appeal.

The Seasiders are currently managerless after parting with management duo Andrew Ruscoe and John Barnes.

They were the only current tier two team in the north to be denied the licence by the First Instance Body but on appeal, they have done enough to persuade the independent body to allow them to play second-tier football next season.

Prestatyn finished 13th, five points above the relegation zone after Llanrhaeadr and Llangefni Town were relegated.

Bangor City, who pulled out of the division halfway through, were unable to apply for a licence and do not look like even participating in the Ardal Northern leagues next season, with recreational football the most likely option.

Cefn Albion, who finished third in the Ardal North East, successfully claimed the licence on appeal, which will bode well for them after also failing their Tier Three Licence.

Their third-place finish was not enough to secure them a play-off spot with Caersws facing North West runner-up Porthmadog.

Elsewhere in the South, Port Talbot Town who finished without a point in the 2021/22 season, got it on appeal.

As did Monmouth Town from the South East and Penydarren in the South West. Both clubs didn’t finish in a spot for promotion but will use the licencing as a platform should they be in a position next year.
