New Saints set to make double swoop for Coventry City and Shrewsbury pair

The New Saints are poised to make the double signing of Shrewsbury Town player Joshua Daniels and Coventry City defender Josh Pask.

Former Liverpool academy goalkeeper Daniel Atherton was TNS’ first bit of transfer business and now he could be joined by two players who plied their trade in League One and Two last year.

Daniels who is predominantly a right-sided winger but has played on the opposite flank and at right-back was on the books of Shrewsbury Town for the last season and featured regularly for the Shrews.

The 26-year-old played in 26 matches in all competitions with 21 of those being in League One, where he got subbed in 12 times and started nine matches.

In the season before that, he did find the net twice in League One, scoring against Peterborough United and Rochdale, which gave him two goals in 50 appearances overall.

Now the Northern Irish-born attacker after being released is poised to make the short move across to Park Hall who are preparing for their UEFA Champions League double-header with Linfield.

Daniels before joining Shrewsbury made just shy of 150 appearances in both the League of Ireland and the NIFL Premiership for Derry City and Glenavon.

Potentially joining Daniels in Oswestry is Josh Pask, who is on the search for a new club after his contract was not renewed by EFL Championship outfit Coventry City.

A report from Football League World claims that the player has agreed to join the reigning Cymru Premier champions.

The 24-year-old made 23 appearances for the Sky Blues with a majority of them coming in 2020/21, featuring 17 times in English football’s second tier.

Last season, Pask was on loan in League Two with Welsh outfit Newport County and made 10 appearances in total for the Exiles.
