Craig Harrison makes shock return to New Saints – will face Connah’s Quay in first match

The New Saints have announced the return of popular manager Craig Harrison, who leaves his role at Connah’s Quay.

Harrison is back in the Park Hall hot seat and replaces Anthony Limbrick, who the club axed seven days ago.

He makes the return to Oswestry five years after he left for Hartlepool United, where he endured a difficult spell.

The defending Cymru Premier champions made the move over the last 24-hours and bought Harrison out of the contract he had signed.

New Saints chairman Mike Harris welcomed the 44-year-old back to the club with open arms, stressing the style of play as a factor in the appointment.

He said: “Craig is our most successful manager, not just with results and trophies but in his style of football too, which is appealing to our fans.”

“Craig will meet up with the playing squad tomorrow and be involved in the Nathaniel MG Cup game at the Deeside Stadium this coming Saturday.

“The New Saints would like to thank Connah’s Quay Nomads for their help and assistance in enabling the deal to be completed swiftly.”

The 44-year-old returned to the Welsh game and assisted Andy Morrison, helping the Deeside club achieve back-to-back Cymru Premier titles.

Harrison became first-team manager when Morrison departed in September and led the club to the Nathaniel MG Cup.

His first game in charge of his second tenure is this coming Saturday in a Nathaniel MG Cup Round Two match against the Nomads at Deeside Stadium.
