Swansea City midfielder set for deadline-day transfer
Swansea City midfielder Dan Williams is poised for a five-month loan move to The New Saints.
Williams returned to the Swans earlier this summer after his loan with Dundalk was cut short.
The 21-year-old is not expected to hang around much longer in South Wales with a move to Oswestry on the cards.
WalesOnline journalist Ian Mitchelmore says that Williams is ‘expected’ to join the Saints until January.
Williams would be at Park Hall for the entirety of Phase One of the Cymru Premier season, where a decision could be made to extend his deal based on game time and the position of both clubs.
The central midfielder made nine appearances in the League of Ireland, registering two assists. He is also an eight-time Wales Under-21 international, though has not featured in the last two squads.
TNS already have worked with Swansea before in nurturing their younger players after Ben Cabango had a stint in the 2018/19 season.
The four-time Wales international played in the Champions League and went on to make 25 appearances for the Saints.
He returned to Swansea and the season after he became a regular first-team player, racking up 105 appearances in total for the Swans, including 92 Championship outings.
Swansea have also loaned goalkeeper Lewis Webb to Aberystwyth Town this season in a bid to expose him to game time at a senior level.
