Cardiff Met 2-2 Aberystwyth Town (Met win 5-3 on penalties): As it happened

Cardiff Met take on Aberystwyth Town in the third round of the Nathaniel MG Cup on Tuesday evening at Cyncoed Campus.

Met come into this game on the back of the wrong end of a 7-0 defeat to TNS on Saturday afternoon and will hope to bounce back in this game. Prior to that game, the Archers had enjoyed a good start under new manager Ryan Jenkins, only losing one of their first five matches. This run of results has seen them jump to fourth in the Cymru Premier, and last season’s Nathaniel MG Cup runners-up will be hoping for glory this season.

It’s been a tough start to the season for the Green and Black Army. After defeating newly promoted Airbus on the opening day of the season, Aberystwyth went on a four-game losing streak, before setting that record straight last weekend with a win over Connah’s Quay Nomads. Last season, Aberystwyth were knocked out in the round of 16 of the MG Cup and will be hoping to go further this season.

There’s also the added spice of revenge in this game for Aber. They have already suffered a 4-0 loss at home to Met this season in the Cymru Premier, and it was the Archers who knocked them out of last season’s MG Cup. Will Met continue their dominant form on Tuesday?
