Craig Morgan-Hill stands down as manager of Abergavenny Women

Craig Morgan-Hill has announced he is stepping down as manager of Abergavenny Women.

It was a role he held for two years after being appointed in June 2020, having previously been assistant manager for the men’s team.

Morgan-Hill led the Pennies to the Adran South title last season, losing just one match of the 14 games.

The 36-year-old’s last act was to oversee a 5-0 defeat to Cardiff City at Pen-y-Pound Stadim in the Adran Premier last Sunday.

It was their second consecutive defeat after losing to Aberystwyth Town on the opening day of the season.

Abergavenny sit bottom of the table and along with the New Saints are one of two teams not to win a league match this season.

He said on the club’s official channels: “After much thought I have decided to resign from my role as Abergavenny Women’s manager.

“I’d like to thank all the coaches who have worked with me and especially the players who through adversity shone through and brought deserved success to the club.

“I feel now is the time for change where a fresh approach will help push the club on even further on the field.”

Despite him stepping down from management duties, he will remain at the club as ‘Head of Club Development’.

He said: “With that, I have accepted a new role in the club as Head of Club Development which will allow me to carry on the work of promoting the club and ensuring that there is a sound footing for years to come and continue the hard work that’s been done over the last few years.

Josh Anderson will take on the role after joining as assistant manager earlier this summer.

Anderson was manager of Barry Town United last season and will take on his former club this weekend.
