Barry Town take on Connah’s Quay at Jenner Park Stadium in the Round of 16 stage of the Adran Trophy.

Both sides are coming into this in contrasting form, and with only one division separating both sides, an upset could be on the cards.

Barry currently find themselves in seventh place in the Adran Prem but are only two points off the illusive fourth spot. After a good start to the season with some solid performances, Barry have waned slightly, and with them suffering back-to-back defeats under new manager Sean Wharton, a cup run could come at the perfect time for them. In last season’s Adran Trophy, Barry were knocked out in the quarter-finals by eventual finalists Cardiff City. They will be hoping to do better this season.

The task in front of them on Sunday is a difficult one in Connah’s Quay. The Nomads sit in second place in the Adran North and have only conceded one goal in the league. In the Adran Trophy first round, they were placed in the North 2 group, where they won all three of their games: an 8-1 win over Airbus, a 9-2 win over Felinheli, and a good 1-0 win over Llandudno. If Barry is to win, they will have to stop the free-scoring Kirstie Kural, who has scored seven goals already in this competition.

The Nomads were knocked out at this stage last season, falling to a 4-0 defeat to TNS. They will be eyeing to go at least one better this season. It promises to be a fascinating battle.

Barry Town United’s Lauren Harris says: “Hoping for a nice loud Barry Town turnout tomorrow for our cup match.”

Connah’s Quay Nomads midfielder Kirstie Kural says: Our squad depth has improved and the commitment levels from the girls have been amazing. We feel like we’ve got a strong enough squad, it’s just about turning up in those big games and putting a performance in.”
