Barry Town and Cambrian swap strikers as Josh Bull and Sam Johnson move clubs
Barry Town United have strengthened their promotion bid with the signing of Cambrian & Clydach Vale striker Josh Bull. Y Clwb Pêl-droed understands that Cymru Premier club Penybont were interested but Barry won his signature.
Bull arrives at Jenner Park having scored 13 goals in 16 matches in the Cymru South this season. He has netted 14 times across 19 games this season.
The 29-year-old was excelled since returning after being ruled out for the majority of the 2021/22 season. He leaves Cambrian having been their top scorer for the season.
In his last act as a Cambrian player, he was nominated for the Player of the Month award, along with his new teammate Liam Warman.
“I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to play for such a great club,” said Bull to the official club website. I’ve always enjoyed playing at Jenner Park and I’ll now look forward to doing so even more as a Barry Town player. I’d like to wish Cambrian all the very best moving forward.”
Lee Kendall, nominated for the Manager of the Month award, added: “We are excited to work with Josh, he will add a lot of quality to our group and his personality will be brilliant for the team.”
The Sky Blues have not been left empty-handed however as Sam Johnson has returned to the club as Richie Ryan’s first signing. Johnson was at Cambrian in 2019 for a season, scoring five goals in 21 appearances.
Johnson scored one goal in 12 matches for Barry, but on several occasions had to settle for a place on the bench. He had to compete with Kayne McLaggon for a place in the side and was not in their squad for their New Year’s Day win over Llantwit Major.
