As-it-happened: Cardiff City 1-3 Cardiff Met – Adran Trophy final

Cardiff Met defend their Adran Trophy crown against treble-chasing Cardiff City at Penybont’s SDM Glass Stadium.

With the first piece of silverware up for grabs, both teams will be eyeing up the trophy come Sunday afternoon.

The Archers come into this one in a poor run of form, having lost their past three games, scoring none and conceding eight in the process, including four at home to Swansea City last weekend. However, the cup has been a source of solace for Yzzy Taylor’s side. After defeating Adran North sides Rhyl and Connah’s Quay to get to the final, they conquered Aberystwyth Town in the semi-final; goals from Emily Allen, Tija Richardson and Ellie Preece enough to send them to Bridgend.

The Bluebirds have looked unstoppable this season. They’re still unbeaten and they have their eyes set on an historic treble. Having defeated Briton Ferry and Llandudno to get to the semi-final, they had a wobble against TNS after going behind. But, goals from Manon Pearce, Siobhan Walsh, and Phoebie Poole got the Iain Darbyshire’s side over the line.

The two capital sides have met three times this season, with City coming out on top on every occasion. However, these two met in last season’s Adran Trophy final, and it was Met who triumphed with a last minute winner from Emily Allen. Will history repeat itself on Sunday?
