Mark Jones is expected to give three of his six uncapped Wales C players their debuts for Tuesday’s clash against England at Altrincham.
Players linked up yesterday after a weekend of Cymru Premier action and have trained today in preparation of the fixture. Most of the squad has had a feel for the match whilst others are experiencing international football for the first time.
Wales have claimed a positive result on English soil, drawing 2-2 in back in March 2019. Out of of the team that drew in Salford four years ago only Alex Ramsay, Emlyn Lewis, Clayton Green, Aeron Edwards and Kayne McLaggon remain.
Here’s how we think Wales will line up for their much-anticipated clash with England.
Goalkeeper: Connor Roberts
Alex Ramsay got a clean sheet against England last year and that might sway Jonah’s thinking but statistically, Roberts is the best goalkeeper in the division.
The 30-year-old has conceded just 13 league goals this term and has kept 21 clean sheets in all competitions. Ramsay has had his chance on a few occasions but now it’s time for Roberts, who has been in the league for some time to represent his country.
RWB: Mael Davies
Davies got injured in this fixture last year and it cruelly denied him the chance to play in the Welsh Cup final at the Cardiff City Stadium. He’s one of the players that would have been touted for a Football League move and this is a chance again.
RCB: Ryan Sears
Sears has had a taste of the Football League and the National League, having previously played for Grimsby Town and Shrewsbury. He’s recently turned into a centre-back for Newtown, and what should be a back five, or three centre-backs, Sears would be a good option to have on the right.
CB: Emlyn Lewis
Jonah’s captain last year, Lewis should start right in the middle of the defence. He’s a solid option to have and whilst his stature makes him a commanding defender, he can also play on the deck too.
LCB: Danny Davies
Putting Davies in as a centre-back in a three shocked a few last year but Davies adapted to the role and you’d put him there again.
LWB: Kane Owen
Not many players can win games on their own from wing-back but Kane Owen can. The Bont captain scored the winning goal against Newtown on Saturday and is one of the first names on the team sheet.
CM: Clayton Green
Green isn’t a flashy midfielder by any means but he’s someone who you need in the centre of the park. He was a surprise call-up a few seasons ago but now you couldn’t picture the side without him.
CM: Tom Price
Aeron Edwards hasn’t played since late January and that could mean a place on the bench at best. Edwards – one of the most decorated players in the Cymru Premier – got a brace last year but this could be a time for Tom Price to step up. Price’s last act before this fixture however was getting sent off against Bala.
CM: Leo Smith
Smith loves scoring in Europe and after a season at Park Hall where he was in and out of the side, his run in the team has come at a good time.

ST: Ben Ahmun
If Ahmun was just a few years younger this could be a fixture that could have earned him a move into the pro game. His route is commendable, playing for lower league sides like AFC Porth and the defunct STM Sports. He’s not just a tall striker but he’s someone who can play on the ground too and so he gets the nod.
ST: Kayne McLaggon
His club are in league action and he’ll be a big blow but McLaggon, whose inclusion raised a few eyebrows, perhaps will even get a start. McLaggon has scored for fun in the Cymru South and his experience will be vital.
