As-it-happened: England C 1-0 Wales C – De Havilland strike settles tight-affair

England C host Wales C at Altrincham’s Moss Lane on Tuesday evening in the latest edition of the ‘C’ international fixture.

Mark Jones’ side claimed the bragging rights last year, winning 4-0 in Caernarfon thanks to goals from Aeron Edwards and Will Evans, with the latter earning a move to Newport County. It’s tied at a win apiece and a draw when it comes to the head-to-head of this fixture.

The Three Lions won 3-2 in Barry in March 2018, and then in 2019 there was a 2-2 draw in Salford before there was a two-year break because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Much has changed since the rebirth of the fixture, and this is a much-changed England, who have just Solihull Moors’ Joe Sbarra from the side that played last year.

As for Wales, they have several players from last season’s clash, but there are six uncapped players in Jonah’s squad, whilst Kayne McLaggon has been given a call-up, despite playing in the Cymru South with Barry Town United. England have been dealt a few late blows with Darren Oldaker, Macaulay Langstaff, and Magnus Norman all withdrawing in the last few days.
