Wrexham 1-0 Briton Ferry RECAP: Rebecca Pritchard goal wins promotion

Briton Ferry and Wrexham meet in the play-off final of the Adran Leagues at Newtown’s Latham Park as the two battle for a place in the Adran Premier.

With both sides having stellar seasons so far, both will be hoping to cap it off by claiming the ultimate goal, promotion.

Wrexham come into this one with an unbeaten league record. Steve Dale has guided his side to twelve wins from twelve, scoring 70 and only conceding six in those games. Rosie Hughes is the top scorer in Wales’ top three leagues with 24 goals, and with a supporting cast which features the likes of Amber Lightfoot and Lili Jones, they are a side more than capable of causing damage to anyone.

Briton Ferry have played two more league games than Wrexham, but they have only lost one game all season, winning the other 13. While Wrexham may have Hughes, Ferry have a superstar of their own this season in Meg Kearle. With a total of 20 goals and 14 assists, she can pose a threat in front and around goal. With the experience of players like Laura-May Walkley in the team, they are a side who know what they have to do to win.

Both sides haven’t played each other this season, but both have faced off against Adran Premier side Aberystwyth Town. Wrexham have faced the Seasiders twice, losing 3-1 on each occasion. Ferry have played them once and won 3-0. Can we take anything from this game? Who knows! But with two attacking sides on our hands, this could easily be the game of the season in Wales.
