Haverfordwest County match-winners announce departure

Corey Shephard and Elliott Dugan have announced their departure from Haverfordwest County.

The Bluebirds qualified for the Europa Conference League last Saturday and plans for the squad have already begun for next season.

Shephard – who scored the decisive spot-kick against Newtown – departs the Bridge Meadow after two-seasons-and-a-half. He joined in 2020 from Cambrian & Clydach and then rejoined for a second spell after a brief few months with Merthyr Town in 2022.

The 25-year-old made 58 appearances for the West Wales club, registering four goals and five assists. His best campaign was in 2020/21 when he got three assists and a goal in his debut Cymru Premier campaign.

He broke the news on Wednesday evening, and tweeted: “My time has come to an end at @HaverfordwestFC , thanks for the last 3 years.

“An amazing club and fans with great people involved! Some great memories along the way topped off with achieving Europe last Saturday!! It’s been a blast. All the best for the future.”

Dugan is also departing after a season with Haverfordwest. The 22-year-old joined after leaving Portadown and made 20 appearances in total for the club, getting three goals and two assists. He scored the decisive penalty to send Haverfordwest into the play-off final after beating Cardiff Met at Cyncoed Campus on penalties.

In a social media post, Dugan said: “My time at @HaverfordwestFC has come to an end. Some unreal people and memories that will last a life time.

“To be able to contribute to helping the team qualify for Europe is something I’m extremely proud of. I wish the players, staff, and fans all the best moving forward.”

Haverfordwest’s full list of departures is to be expected shortly, along with other Cymru Premier retained lists. Bala Town in recent weeks have lost both Lassana Mendes and Oliver Southern to Hereford.
