Cardiff Draconians are on the search for a new manager after Marc Cahill stood down from his role.
The Dracs staved off the threat of relegation last week with a final-day win over Cwmamman United, relegating them to the local leagues, whilst the hosts held their third tier status for a second successive season.
Cahill was brought into the club in later September and replaced Phil Booker as manager, who resumed his place on the coaching staff. He is expected to remain at the club in a different capacity, as the club now moves in a different direction.
A club statement read: “Thank you Cays ! – when we approached you last September we were delighted when you volunteered to take on the management of the Dracs.
“None of us could have anticipated how difficult a job it would prove to be. Our squad had been severely depleted and the registration window had closed before you arrived, but you brought an enthusiasm for the job matched by your professional approach.
“We are deeply sorry to lose you as team manager but fully respect your decision – family, and work have to come first.”
Cahill is one of two departures from the Dracs, with Phil Booker stepping away from first-team duties.
Booker had started out as a first-team coach and had a spell as manager. He had been on the long journey from Division Two of the Amateur League and was involved in three promotions, as well as five cup finals.
In a club statement, they said: “Phil made a huge impact at the club. Transforming the approach, the club took towards training and development.
“Phil was key in bringing youth to the club to support the senior sides.
“Phil will be missed, and the club are very grateful for the amount of hours, passion and commitment he has given us.
“A huge character around the place, Phil’s man management and engagement were second to none.
“From all at Cardiff Draconians, we would like to thank Phil for his service.”
