Flint Mountain have been installed as the favourites to win the Ardal North West 23/24.
Welsh bookmaker DragonBet is giving odds of 9/4 for the Cae-y-Castell outfit to lift the third-tier title this season. It means that if you were to put a £1 on then you would receive £3.25 back.
Flint – one of three teams playing at the Essity Stadium – are the slight favourites and have been busy in the transfer market. Aden Shannon has persuaded Cymru Premier stalwart Mike Hayes to drop two divisions, and they have also made signings from across the border.
Their new additions have been tipped to make up the 15-point gap that separated them and Denbigh Town, as well as the 13-point difference between them and a play-off spot. As for who could challenge them for the league, Rhyl have been predicted to finish second with slightly longer odds of 11/4. The Lilywhites finished third in the division last year in a campaign they can deem as consolidation but will now want to follow in the footsteps of fellow Phoenix club Bangor 1876.
As for the teams relegated from the Cymru North, neither Conwy Borough nor Holyhead Hotspur are predicted for top-two finishes. Interestingly, none of the promoted teams have been predicted to be relegated, and in both St Asaph City and Bethesda Athletic’s case, a top-half finish could be on the cards for them. Llanefydd and Pwllheli are being predicted to be bottom-half and near the bottom though they should have enough to survive.
At the other end of the table, both Hawarden Rangers and Y Felinheli are being tipped for relegation, with odds of 40/1. Hawarden finished 13th out of 14th last season but were given a reprieve whilst Felinheli finished a place higher, but were also spared relegation. Saltney Town who finished 10th last year have slightly better odds but still make up one of the three teams who are being predicted to have a bad season.
The Ardal North West 2023/24 begins on Friday when league favourites Flint Mountain host Llay Welfare at the Essity Stadium.
