Cardiff City take on Aberystwyth Town at the Leckwith International Sports Campus in the second round of fixtures in the Adran Premier.
Both won their opening fixtures to start their campaigns, and both will certainly be coming into this one with a lot of confidence.
After a disappointing European campaign out in Lithuania, the Bluebirds put their performances behind them quickly with a 3-1 victory away to capital rivals Cardiff Met. Meg Bowen had put City ahead, but they were pegged back through an equalising goal by Ingrid Ådland. However, a second from Bowen and one from Rhianne Oakley got Iain Darbyshire’s side over the line. Debuts were also handed out to Amelia Forkings and Emma Beynon.
Aberystwyth pulled off one of the more surprising results of opening day, with a 3-0 home win against Barry Town United. It was two 15-year-olds who helped Aber to a big win, as Lily Moralee-Hughes scored a brace, while Lleucu Mathias also scored her first senior goal for the club. Gavin Allen also handed debuts to goalkeeper Margot Farnes and a second debut for Niamh Duggan, who returned to the club from Reading.
The last time Aber played City in the capital, they put in a strong defensive display, but were defeated 1-0. Their most recent encounter, however, was not as close, as the Bluebirds won 5-1. Gwenllian Jones had put Aber ahead, but Kelly Thomas was dismissed before the break. In the second half, a brace from Siobhan Walsh, along with goals for Oakley, Ffion Price, and Phoebie Poole dragged Cardiff to a comeback win.
