Cardiff City take on current league top scorers The New Saints in their third fixture of the Genero Adran Premier season at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium.

Since joining the top flight in 2021 the Saints have played Cardiff City six times with the Bluebirds being victorious in all six meetings.

Cardiff City started their season with a 0-0 home draw against Aberystwyth Town before picking up their first win of the season last weekend in a 3-1 victory over Cardiff Met University. A brace from Megan Bowen either side of a goal from Rhianne Oakley sealed the first three points of The Bluebirds season.

The New Saints started their season with an eight goal thriller away to Cardiff Met as two goals from Ella Hartley and Caitlin Chapman earned their first point of the season. They picked up their first three points of the season last weekend with a 3-1 victory away to Pontypridd United with Danielle Staley and Isobel Redding giving them a two goal advantage before Caitlin Chapman got on the scoresheet again to seal the game late on. This will be their third consecutive away fixture to start the season.

TNS sit fourth in the table with Cardiff City sitting just behind in fifth on goal difference. The table is looking close early on as expected with the top five teams all sitting on four points after the opening two rounds of fixtures.

New Cardiff City signing Mackenzie Olden is expected to feature in their game this weekend after making her first league appearance in the 0-0 draw against Aberystwyth. The attacker joined The Bluebirds from Barry Town United having scored nine goals in the Adran Premier League last season.

She will be looking to add to her positive record against the Saints after netting a brace against them for Barry Town last season. Speaking on the Cardiff City website Olden said: “Everyone’s buzzing for the game. We really want the three points. We’ve come together this week, worked hard and we’re confident going into this weekend.”

The New Saints manager Greg Draper admitted he has a selection headache ahead of his sides fixture this weekend saying that last weekends side was decided on the team bus on route to the game. Draper said: The strength of the squad we’ve got now is a real selection headache really.

“This Sunday will be no different trying to work out. We’ve got so many different options these days, don’t get me wrong its a positive but it’s a certainly a head-scratcher trying to work out the best starting eleven to go with.”

Draper was also asked about the injury situation saying “Everyone’s fine we’ve got a full squad to chose from. Injury wise were in a great position now.”
