High-flying Ardal South West club part company with manager

Cefn Cribwr manager Dylan Powell stands on the touchline.

Cefn Cribwr have announced the departure of first-team manager Dylan Powell.

At 23 years old, Powell was one of the youngest managers in the Ardal South West. He had succeeded Scott Dryden this summer, who left and took up the reigns at league rivals Pontyclun.

Powell had made the step-up from assistant to manager, but having been appointed back in June, his three-month spell in charge of the club is now over.

A club statement read: “Following an official meeting on Monday, the 2nd of October, the Board of Directors at Cefn Cribwr F.C. accepted Dylan Powell’s resignation as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

“The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Cribwr at the time of Powell’s departure had been second in the Ardal South West, and trail league leaders Penrhiwceiber Rangers on goal difference after nine games.

His last act as manager was to oversee a 3-0 defeat to Penhriwceiber in which Curtis Griffin was shown two yellow cards.

Reserve-team manager Aled Warren has agreed to take the position on an interim basis as the club seeks a permanent successor.

Warren will be assisted by Craig Hopkins, who remains as assistant-manager. The pair’s interim regime begins against Ynyshir Albions in their next league fixture on Saturday, October 7.
