Pontypridd United have made a triple transfer swoop for Katie Williams, Kate Wood, and dual-international Nia Jones.

Dual-athlete Jones fronts up Pontypridd’s transfer business as she makes a return to football, whilst also juggling her netball commitments.

Wales netball captain Jones, a defender by trade in football, is also a wing defense or goal defence in Netball and signed for the Cardiff Dragons last month.

The 31-year-old has 30 caps for Wales and during her playing career played for Cardiff City Ladies, Reading, and Yeovil Town.

Jones is the second Wales international to join the club this summer. Nadia Lawrence signed in the summer and has made three appearances for the Dragons to date.

Williams has already played against Wrexham and Aberystwyth Town. She was ever-present for the Pennies last season and is a graduate of the FAW Academy program.

Wood has also featured after making the move from Cardiff City Ladies. She is a defender by trade, and made her debut in 2022. It was reported in July she had been retained by Cardiff, however she has opted to make the move to the USW Sport Park.

Jonathan Spyropoulos, the assistant manager said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter: “Really exciting signings who have already made such a positive impact on the team!

“Welcome @katie10williams @niajones92 & Kate Wood to the #DragonFamily!”

Pontypridd United are next in action against Swansea City. They face the Swans at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Sunday, October 8 at 2.00 p.m.

In other news, former manager Fern Burrage-Male has become assistant manager at Cardiff City Ladies.

She was replaced by James Fishlock after going on maternity leave and has now taken up a role with the FA Women’s National League side. She will assist former Blackburn Rovers coach Gemma Donnelly, who was appointed as full-time manager.
