Briton Ferry Llansawel have unveiled Andy Dyer as their new first-team manager.

The Reds had been on the search for a new manager after parting ways with Andy Hill last month. Hill made a swift return to management and has taken charge of Ferry’s Cymru South rivals Trefelin.

Dyer was previously the manager of Neath and Afan Lido. The 47-year-old was appointed sporting director of Briton Ferry in August 2020 and will now take to the dugout.

He will take charge of Ferry on November 5, and so the caretaker management team will oversee the double-header against Carmarthen Town.

Upon his appointment at Old Road, Dyer said to the official club website: “I’m happy and looking forward to stepping in to help the club keep progressing and building on all the hard work and success that has gone before me”.

Dyer inherits a side that are currently top of the league standings with 10-games played. Ferry have won eight matches and lost two and are currently on a three-game winning streak in the league. His first game in charge will come on November 17 when Briton Ferry host Llantwit Major.

Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC Chairman, Wyn Evans added: “Andy Dyer embodies the values and ambitions of our club. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC.

“We believe his arrival marks a turning point for us. We are confident in his ability to help the club progress with the aim of realising our footballing ambitions”.
