Barry Town United face off against Swansea City at Jenner Park in both sides’ final game before the Christmas break.
The Adran Premier has been on hold for a few weeks now due to cup competitions, but both the Linnets and the Swans will be hoping to end the year on a high.
It’s been a month since we last saw Barry play in any competition. On two occasions they were meant to take on Y Felinheli in the Adran Trophy, but the weather had other ideas. Therefore, their last outing was a defeat at home to Aberystwyth Town. Having said that, they have picked up six points from their last twelve available to them, making this their best run of the season. Sitting six points ahead of bottom placed Pontypridd United, they will be hoping to extend that gap.
Swansea themselves were involved in both cup competitions. After defeating Adran North side Llandudno 13-0 in the Adran Trophy, the followed it up by beating Cascade 6-1 in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, meaning they will play Cardiff City in the semi-final. The last time we saw them in the Adran Premier was at the Swansea.com Stadium, where they defeated Wrexham 2-1 to maintain their title challenge. Sitting six points behind leaders Cardiff City, they will be looking to lessen the gap heading into the New Year.
Earlier in the season, Swansea triumphed 3-0 over Barry. After Sammy Wynne scored her first goal for the club in the first half, two Barry own goals in the second half made it a miserable day. Barry have never beaten or taken points from Swansea. Will that change, or will Swansea continue their dominance?
