Table topping and defending champions TNS are the visitors to the Bridge Meadow Stadium on Saturday (Dec 23) to take on Haverfordwest County.
The visitors, unbeaten in their league campaign this season have a six point advantage, with two games in hand on nearest challengers Connah’s Quay Nomads, Haverfordwest sitting three points off a place in the Championship Playoff, currently held by Caernarfon Town, who the Bluebirds beat 1-0 last Saturday at the Oval.
Tony Pennock’s West Wales side are keen to be seen as an established top six side and Saturdays encounter will be one which could be a marker by which they are judged, having a record from their 18 games this season of six wins, losses and draws.
Pennock’s sides performances have been pleasing to watch and he is keen to continue that momentum and former Welsh International Jazz Richards made a welcome return to the field of play for the first time this season to further strengthen his squad.
One of the concerns for Pennock would be his side’s goal-scoring exploits which have been hampered by injuries, current leading scorer being Martell Taylor-Crossdale with 5. This is compared to the array of talent at the disposal of veteran visitor’s manager Craig Harrisons as Ryan Brobbel (11), Brad Young (9), Ben Clark and Jordan Willaims having netting seven apiece.
What time is kick-off?
Kick-off for the Christmas encounter will be 2:30 pm, the game to be refereed by Ben Williams of Llanelli, his assistants being Johnathon Bebee-Bryant and Steffan Davies, and fourth official, Tom Bevan.
The host club expect a bumper pre Christmas crowd, as it the fixture is the only Cymru Premier fixture being played and there is no other football in Pembrokeshire. The Bluebirds outline the mantra of ‘Playing for Pembrokeshire’ and this is the ideal opportunity for locals to watch the game.
