Brother of Nottingham Forest and Wales star transfers to Bala after Burnley exit
Bala Town have completed the signing of former Burnley right-back Keelan Williams.
The 20-year-old has been a free agent since being released by the Clarets in the summer and has got back into senior football with the Lakesiders.
Keelan is the younger brother of 37-time Wales international and Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams. He like Neco was at the Liverpool Academy before moving to Burnley in 2020.
He could make his debut against Haverfordwest County in Bala’s final game of Phase One on Saturday, January 13 at 5.15 pm.
Williams is a 14-time Wales youth international and has played for the under-15s to the under-19s. Reading midfielder Charlie Savage and Newport County defender Matthew Baker are just two players who are former teammates of his.
In his two years at Turf Moor, he made 34 appearances in total for Burnley’s under-18s team in the U18 Premier League and registered one assist.
Meanwhile, the Lakesiders have permitted several of their players to leave Maes Tegid this window. Centre-back Adam Mitter has joined Colwyn Bay on loan until the end of the season. The 31-year-old joined in the summer but has been limited to just five appearances with Bala and will now get first-team minutes at the Seagulls.
Two players have headed to the Cymru North. Theo Knight has departed for Llandudno whilst Joe Nelson has penned terms with Gresford Athletic.
