In a post shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Cunningham said: “I “knew this day would come, but I didn’t think I would reach this decision so soon, but with the success of this season, I feel now is the right time. I’ve made the decision that I will be stepping down from my role at the club at the end of the current season.

“It’s not a decision I have taken lightly, but I feel like I’ve ran out of energy needed to keep driving the club forward. my family have always been there to support me no questions asked and worked around my football so it’s time I showed the same dedication back to them.

“A fantastic group of players a wonderful club with a group of hardworking volunteers. Achieved what I set out when took over the club. A club forever in my heart. Up the Alex.”

At the time of his announcement, Mold are fourth in the league standings. They have all but ensured themselves of that finish as they are unable to catch Flint Town United whilst they hold a six-point lead over Bangor 1876 with a superior goal difference.

He masterminded Mold Alexandra to promotion to the Cymru North by winning the Ardal South West in the 2021/22 season. They also defeated Mold Alexandra to win the FAW Amateur Trophy.
