Cardiff Met star confirms transfer exit after being told not to train

Emlyn Lewis has confirmed that he is to leave Cardiff Met at the end of the current campaign.
The 27-year-old will play no further part in the Archers’ 2023/24 season after he claimed he was told to train away from his teammates. His last outing for the club came on March 23, a 2-1 win over Caernarfon Town.
During his time with the Met, he played in the UEFA Europa League and won back-to-back BUCS Championships. He began working as a coach alongside Charlie Corsby.
He said in a statement published on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter: “After 10 years at Cardiff Met FC, it has come to a premature end.
“My contract is not renewed and I’ve been told I won’t be playing for the rest of the season & have been asked not to train with the squad.
“The club has been a constant part of my life since my move down from Pennant in 2014.
“I will forever be grateful for those amazing individuals that have had a positive influence on me.”
Lewis was capped four times for the Wales C team during his time at Cyncoed Campus and he was captain for two of the fixtures. Since Met’s promotion to the Welsh top flight in 2016, he has made more than 250 appearances. He won the Nathaniel MG Cup in 2019 and was a runner-up in 2022.
He added: “I am looking forward to creating more memories away from the club. A disappointing end to the journey, but onto a new challenge whatever that may be…”
Met play Newtown on the final day on Sunday, April 21 at Cyncoed Campus. A play-off semi-final is to take place in mid-May with the venue and dates to be decided following the conclusion of the regular season.
