Briton Ferry back in Adran Premier after big playoff win

Briton Ferry lift the Adran play-off trophy

Briton Ferry are back in the Adran Premier after securing a 4-0 win over Llandudno in the play-off final at Latham Park.

All four goals came in the second half with Alison Witts breaking the deadlock on the hour mark. Laura-May Walkley put the Reds two in front and then Stacey Treadewell was sent off to give them Ferry an advantage. Witts added another three minutes before time and then Fleur Jenkins made sure of the victory.

They take their place in the Welsh top flight for the first time since 2021. Ferry were relegated following the reduction of ten to eight teams and then lost the play-off final to Wrexham last year.

The Reds controlled the game in the opening stages as Ela Roberts delivered a ball into the penalty area but Alison Witts header was caught comfortably.

There was drama when Laura May Walkley went down as it appeared Stacey Tradewell had made a foul. A yellow card was only given as the 35-year-old came out from the moment with perhaps fortunate.

Briton Ferry caused danger all half as a Jess Denscombe delivery landed at the feet of Witts as her outside-the-foot shot went wide.

Llandudno had their first real chance of an attack from Erin Doran as Lucy Powell dragged her arm back. A free-kick was given as no yellow card was given.

The Adran South champions had the best chance on the half-hour mark as a corner was sent in and landed onto the head of Lowri Ridings with her header rattling the crossbar.

Briton Ferry was dangerous from set-pieces again as a Witts header landed to Megan Kearle who saw her effort go over the bar.

Llandudno had a tough first half but it was going to be tougher as Sofie Owen saw herself a yellow card for a foul on Walkley.

Witts got the fans out of their seats as she found herself in space from long range as her effort struck the post.

Moments later, Walkley forced Megan Robinson to a great stop as her quick feet were causing havoc on Llandudno defenders.

After all their chances a goal soon came as a corner from Kearle was sent onto the head to Allison Witts who headed home.

The forward scored 19 goals in the Adran South as she scored one of her most important goals this season.

The other key player this season Laura May-Walkley twisted and turned through defences as she hit the side netting from the near post.

As Briton Ferry kept pushing and pushing they found their second as another Kearle corner landed to the head of Walkley as Latham Park erupted.

Following her first yellow in the first half, Tradewell saw a second for a rash challenge on Walkley as Llandudno’s hopes were dashed away.

Walkley was working wonders as she was fouled by Catherine Jones. Witts stepped up but it was brilliantly stopped by Megan Robinson to deny a third.

They only had to wait seconds later as it was a hat-trick of assists from a corner for Kearle as she found the head of Witts who found her second of the game.

The relentless press continued as Ferry intercepted a goal kick and Fleur Jenkins ran through the Llandudno defence to grab the fourth.
